So, I was in Barns and Noble and there was a chick.
On her phone.
ON SPEAKER.

The chick was talking to some guy. "Ohmigawd, yah and like, the party, and he, omg!"
And the dudes talking to her " Yah, the party, fuck, I could drink all night."

Yada yada.

Ten minutes later, it's still happening. I'm severely annoyed. But then, oh joy be, I see a man in the aisle next to me. We lock eyes and I can read his thoughts. "What the fuck's up with that bimbo? She needs to fucking shut up! This is a book store!"

He's about 50, has white hair, a goatee and mustache. An average Joe. So, I shrug and he shakes his head. I nod and we sigh. "Oh, some people"

We were not talking, but it was fantastic, we communicated so well. Magical and powerful is human intellect.

Another ten minutes. The chick is still taking, walking around with her speaker on high. Me and the man are glancing back and fourth at each other, our gazes discussing that something needs to be done.

He puts up one finger, 'wait and watch' it says to me. I nod and smile. I stare at some books and start chuckling, I can almost guess what he will do.

"WELL! EXCUSE ME, MISS! IS OUR BOOK BROWSING JUST TOO LOUD FOR YOU?" He says as loud as possible without yelling, and I grin at him. The girl looks confused.

"Wha?" Is her intelligent reply. I'm trying to hold back full blown laughter.

" I said," He repeats "Was our book browsing too loud for you?"

"What are you talking about?" She asks, still confused and I'm laughing so hard my sides hurt. Her boyfriend on the phone asks what's going on and she gives a snotty look to the man. "What EV!" She storms off.

The man walks back to his section for a second and I give him the thumbs up and he comes over to me.

"Yea, I'm sorry about that but some people... I mean" He pulls out his cell and so do me and Zaid. " I have speaker and I bet you guys do too but what the hell is the reason to use it in a damn bookstore?"

I nod, " I know, thanks for saying something."

"You know what we should do? Give me your number and I'll call you and we can talk to each other on speaker right by her! See how she likes it!" He grins and we all laugh and he walks off.

People like that are the reason I go into society. We knew what each other was saying and knew what needed to be done. It was a rare moment of nonverbal communication with full clarity.

A beautiful win against the rude.
